Quantum Willow Launch

Client: Google // Director: Cheryl Isaacson

Anything to the power of septillions is not something people tend to wrap their heads around, but neither is quantum computing. This is why the Google Quantum AI team launched Willow, their latest quantum chip, with this TED Talk-inspired piece to put things into perspective.

To detail Willow's state-of-the-art performance in an easy-to-understand way, an original script and presentation were developed in collaboration with Google Quantum's Director of Hardware, Julian Kelly, to unpack Willow's hardware advancements. In addition to more general advancements, Julian details new efficiencies in quantum error correction and the mind-blowingly bonkers benchmark that Willow can run computations in under five minutes, which would currently take the world's most powerful supercomputers 10 septillion years to complete.

To help wrap your head around that, that's 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years. 25 zeros. More time than the universe has existed.

Let's get in touch.
